Heads up!! || November 06, 2002
This is a copy of the entry that I did in topix. That's a fun place to go and share thoughts and ideas with other people. It's a public diary so check it out. The Topic for the moment is Your Personal Experience With Manure.

When I was much younger we lived in Texas, home of the Great American Redneck Pasttime. No, not rodeos, the other one. Yep, cow chip flinging contests. Ironically they were usually held in conjunction with Chili Cook-offs.

It was always a real carnival atmosphere. Generally spread out over acres of pasture land, people setup their Coleman portable stove-tops and plywood work tables and got down to the serious business of cooking chili. You could find all types of variations of it .. sweet, mild, medium, hot, slap-yer-mama scalding .. beef, chicken, turkey, snake, bear and probably some possum-on-the-half-shell, otherwise known as Armadillos, and quite possibly the losers of the Armadillo races.

Now that I'm older and think back to all the Saturdays spent tromping around the pastures, I have to wonder .... just how far away from the cooking areas was the area for the cow chip flinging anyway??

Ewwwwwww
